The Bible records many stories of God interrupting the lives of ordinary people with specific messages or a sudden awareness of His presence. I tend to think that I, so earthy and fallible, would be undeserving of such special favor from God. But when I look into the Scriptures, I learn otherwise. Humanity consists only of earthly, fallible, ordinary people! We can be changed by His power when we become part of God’s kingdom. In Acts 4:13 the people were shocked at the courage and profound speech of the “unschooled, ordinary” Peter and John. It was evident that they had been with Jesus.
The first disciples heard the call from Jesus to come and follow. He promised they would see a kingdom beyond the earthly realm, and it was so. Together they journeyed sharing common, everyday life affairs. They witnessed His miracles. Their time with Jesus was reflected in them.
Is it evident that you have been with Jesus? Through the Holy Spirit we can hear His voice and be ready for His divine interruptions in our ordinary days.
