“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Romans 10:13
“Chaplain, I’m sending an officer over to you. He’ll be there in 10 minutes. We’ve taken him off the street for now, and he needs your help.” After receiving this word, I began to get to know this future friend, beginning—as always—with the cup of coffee, the listening, and the talking. He was overwhelmed with alcohol issues, a broken relationship, kids that left him, a job disappointment, and potential threat of hurting himself.

In time, he was back on patrol, and we’d ride together on his shift. One night around 2:00 a.m., we were in a coffee shop, sitting in silence. I said, “It’s time to bring God home into your life.” He replied simply, “Okay.” We prayed, and Jesus became the Lord of his life right there. Today, some 30 years later, my friend continues to walk with God.

People are spiritually lost unless they hear the gospel and receive it. I told the story of how Jesus became my Savior. One-on-one there in that coffee shop, my friend was ready to call upon Jesus, assured that everyone who calls on Him will be saved.
