“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?”

Romans 10:14
Scripture and experience tell us that we are more than just mere physical bodies; we are body and soul. In Matthew 10:28, Jesus tells His disciples not to fear men who can kill the body but not the soul. If you have ever had the experience of being with a loved one at the moment of their death, you know acutely that the part which animates and gives life is no longer there; the soul has departed.

Studies consistently show that families and individuals impacted by disability often are not connected to a church. Only 5-10% of the world’s disabled are effectively reached with the gospel, making the community of individuals with disabilities one of the largest unreached groups in the world.

Disability may impact our bodies, but it does not impact our souls. Every person needs to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ. No matter what our abilities or inabilities, we need to hear that through faith in Christ our sins are forgiven, and we receive eternal life. The joy in this reality compels us to share that good news with anyone who doesn’t know.
