“The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And let him who hears say, ‘Come!’ Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.”

Revelation 22:17
As our family celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary, my wife and I felt richly blessed. My thoughts turned to the final chapter of the Bible where John wrote of the ultimate blessing to come after our earthly days.

The first chapter of Revelation begins, “Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it” (v. 3). The last chapter ends with words about God’s final coming down, the key to entering into truly blessed living. “Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy in this book” (22:7). Greater obedience leads to even greater blessings.

I hope you have known the Lord’s tender blessing in your life. We don’t always feel it. Sometimes life is just one difficulty after another. It’s hard. Keep on obeying and receive His blessings. Wait on Him. Trust Him. He has never failed you. I pray that throughout this Christmas season, you have been strengthened for deeper belief and greater obedience knowing that God came down for you.
