“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.”

Ecclesiastes 3:11
Is there a famous piece of art that you enjoy? I’ve always loved Seurat’s pointillism painting, “Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte.” But as a parent, my heart also has soared at the sweet, simple drawings and paintings my own children have made. Sometimes we’ve proudly hung their creations in our home. They complete the décor; they belong on the wall; they give me joy, imperfect as they are.

Perhaps we’re a bit like child’s artwork. Though some of us may stand out like Picasso or Monet masterpieces, many of us do not. Our lives are messy. They’re marked by weakness and disability, tainted by sin. Yet we are a source of joy to God because we are His created ones. He makes us beautiful in His time, setting eternity and the hope of heaven in our hearts.

We may not be able to fathom what the Lord is doing in our lives. But we know that whatever our disabilities and imperfections, we have a Savior who not only sees our worth but also conquered sin and death to make us holy and righteous in His sight.
