"As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my
thoughts than your thoughts."
(ISAIAH 55:9)

Psalm 103:19-22
The theological truth of God’s sovereignty is life changing. God, the Creator, is in control of every aspect of life. Without this truth, we would be anxious thinking that everything we did would have either a distinctly positive or negative effect on our lives. It would be utterly paralyzing. If we decided to fly somewhere on this day, and then something went wrong, we would blame ourselves for not flying another day. Instead, we can rest assured that though we have responsibility to be wise, whatever happens in the end is in God’s hands.

God’s sovereign comfort when unfortunate circumstances occur is that far beforehand He knew every detail of what would happen, and He allowed it for us. So even though we may wish that He had prevented the hardship, and though we question why He did allow it, we know for certain that God had a purpose. We saw that very thing played out when He sent His own Son for us, when Jesus met with the ultimate of suffering, and when every detail of that plan was for our good.
