“Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat upon them …. For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water.”
Revelation 7:16-17
We now jump to the last book in the Bible to show how the theme of eating with the Lord continues to the very end. In this chapter, the Apostle John is given a breathtaking view of the multitude of God’s people gathered from all tribes and tongues. These are the people of God who persevered by His grace through this broken world and are now enjoying the fruits of their victory in Christ.
They have “washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb” (v. 14). A number of passages from Scripture are all drawn together to describe their blessed state. The one who sits on the throne “will shelter them with his presence” (Psalm 91). “The sun shall not strike them” (Psalm 121). “For the Lamb … will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water” (Psalm 23; John 4; John 10).
The Host of hosts has arrived, and with Him, the feast! The living water will be an ever-bubbling brook. Never again will we be anything less than satisfied. There will be no more tears, because this is a feast of joy.
