“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”

John 14:3
“I’m expecting a baby!” We celebrate announcements like this at our young moms’ ministry. The eager anticipation of a new baby’s arrival brings us together in a special way. Because the exact date of birth is not certain, there can be some anxiety, but as we help with some of the preparations—giving diapers, lending clothing, preparing meals—moms tend to focus on the joy of a new baby rather than the unknown details.
“I will come back and take you to be with me.” Jesus made this announcement many years ago. As believers, when we eagerly anticipate Christ’s return, we also tend to be bound together in a special way. Because the exact date of His return is unknown, we can also focus on the preparations He gave us. We need to “watch out that no one deceives you” (Matthew 24:4), “stand firm” (v. 13), and “keep watch” (v. 42).
Though we don’t know the exact time, our lives are lived with expectancy when we trust Jesus will return. Rather than live with anxiety about the details, we can live with eager anticipation as we prepare for His arrival.
