“I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.”

Jeremiah 31:3
It was a warm, sunny September morning in 2004 when I was taken into custody by sheriff ’s detectives. Initially, only one friend knew of my arrest, but I had no way to contact anyone. In my shame, I believed that once people discovered what I had done and where I was, they would not want to hear from me again anyway. Inside a cold and filthy jail among unfriendly-looking strangers, I had never felt so hopeless or alone. Nor had I ever been so certain that I was getting exactly what I had long deserved.
“But God” (arguably the sweetest pair of words in Scripture!) had other plans for me. My foolish, wicked choices led to my incarceration, but His mercy kept me from completely self-destructing. The Lord led me—failures and all—directly into His open arms. I would soon learn from a borrowed Bible that His care for me was part of His sovereign, covenantal love which predated even my birth.
Are you longing for a Savior who offers you unconditional, everlasting love? Jesus looks beyond your faults and satisfies your need.
