"But he who unites himself with the Lord is
one with him in spirit."
(1 CORINTHIANS 6:17)

John 15:1-9
Sometimes the truth that I am united to my husband is hard to grasp. I know it, but when it gets down to the nitty-gritty, it doesn’t usually feel like it. It’s hard for me to be “one flesh” with another person instead of just being my own person. One of the ways I’ve seen this most clearly is in how I deal with grief, hurt, frustration, and numerous other emotions. I consider myself a private person, dealing with my problems on my own. I hate to cry in front of people. My marriage presents a constant struggle for me to share, to open up, and to cry with my husband instead.

Often we find ourselves in the midst of a similar struggle to “act united” to Christ. Yet, acting united to Christ is really resting in already being united to Him. It is seeing that we are attached to Him – one with our life source, not blazing ahead on our own. Jesus is, every day, giving us all that we need, offering Himself to us, living joined to us. We have nothing to do but abide in Him and accept life from our Vine – our Husband.
