“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.”

Proverbs 18:10
I am blessed to have an exceptionally good dad. He was a Sunday School teacher for many years, articulate in explaining Jesus and salvation. Despite my wandering heart and rebellious youth, I never doubted the truth of God’s Word, largely because of how my dad communicated it to me. He supplied me with a profound sense of safety and refuge, strengthened by faith in Jesus.
Many dads are not present or praiseworthy, but God the Father is. He sent His Son to be humbly obedient to the cross and receive the name above all names—Jesus Christ. Jesus is our strong tower; one day every knee will bow to Him. He is the Rock to whom we cling and take refuge. He is our provider and protector, shield and defender. He is the tall tower that can never be brought low.
The good father you may have been raised by on this earth is a shadow of your Heavenly Father. But when our earthly fathers fail us—some miserably so—let the failure point you to the Father who loves you implicitly, who is your safety and protection, who will never let you go.
