“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. … In him was life, and that life was the light of men.”

John 1:1, 4
Dead bones came alive as Ezekiel breathed God’s words into them, a precursor of God breathing His Word into the world through Jesus. Jesus, the living Word, is our source of life, giving salvation to us who were as hopeless as dry bones.

Consider this testimony from The Jesus Film Project: “The pamphlet was about Jesus, so I ripped it up and threw it at them, saying … ‘There is no god!’ But these men weren’t angry. Instead, they listened to me. They told me more about Jesus …. They won my heart, so I invited them to come to my home. They asked if I wanted to watch a film. I gathered my relatives and friends. There were 40 of us who watched this ‘Jesus Film’ …. I recognized my mistakes and was ashamed of my behavior. I prayed and asked for forgiveness. These men … helped me understand how a person is a sinner and only Jesus can forgive sins.”

“Sweetly echo the gospel call,/ Wonderful words of life;/ Offer pardon and peace to all,/ Wonderful words of life;/ Jesus, only Savior,/ Sanctify forever” (Philip P. Bliss, 1874).
