“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Proverbs 3:5-6
Several years ago when I was a patient in a neuro-rehab hospital, I was joined for lunch by some friends from the legal department where I had previously worked as an attorney. A miraculous survivor of a stroke, I sat at the table in my wheelchair surrounded by my friends when another friend of my family, Grandma Lois, entered the dining area. She approached our table and shared with me and everyone sitting there these words: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight.”
Years later, I am convinced that God sent Grandma Lois to me that day with the familiar Proverbs verse on her heart. I would go back to it countless times during the long and difficult road ahead requiring me to trust Him.
This month’s devotions are lessons God continues to teach me about trusting Him. I’m a much slower learner than I wish I were! If your circumstances are difficult and you lack trust, a good word from the Lord is exactly what you need.

He practiced law, clerking for a US District Court Judge for two years and doing corporate real estate work for 16 years before having a stroke in 2014. Currently, he provides volunteer legal assistance for two international Christian nonprofits. Glen and his wife Kori have been married for 27 years and have four children, ages 16-20. They live in Byron Center, Michigan. Glen enjoys being involved in their local church, reading, birdwatching, and attending their kids’ sporting events.
