“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.”

3 John 4
The Apostle John’s third letter has just 14 verses in it. He writes to a Christian leader named Gaius, opening with the affirmation that Gaius is faithfully active in sharing Christ’s love with others, some who are strangers. He also commends Gaius for his hospitality and what it can accomplish for God.

I’m so thankful that in high school I had training in discipleship, Bible study, and prayer from a young man, Johnny Crawford, of the Navigators ministry. This helped me build a solid biblical foundation, one I’ve had the privilege of passing on. Recently, a police officer and good friend wrote, “I pray for you … You’ve had a big impact on my life … and now I am connecting with my oldest daughter, sharing God’s Word with her and seeing her grow spiritually.”

As John says, there is “no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.”

Think of one person who has helped you grow in your faith. Take a moment and consider how to offer a word of thanks for the personal connection he or she made with you.
