“I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.”

John 17:26
John 17 contains Jesus’ powerful prayer to His Father spoken before He went to the Mount of Olives to be arrested as a common criminal. Notice the last words of this passionate plea; they’re about you! Jesus’ mission has been to make the Father’s love known to you. He wants you to experience the same overwhelming love that He has experienced for all eternity. He showed what this love looks like right after this prayer, journeying the path of suffering that led to separation from His Father on the cross. There He took on our sin and punishment.
The cross reveals a love beyond description. The Father gave His only beloved, perfect Son so you and I could experience that love in our hearts. None of us who has been a parent could fathom surrendering our child in this way. But it was God’s plan for us from the
Beginning. There is no crime, no offense, no sin that the Father’s love cannot overcome to bring lasting freedom. May verse 26 become your daily prayer, that you would know the same love Jesus knows from His Father.
