"He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that... we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life."
The Kimbanguist Symphony Orchestra, featured on 60 Minutes, is a treasure in the world’s poorest country, the chronically war-torn Democratic Republic of Congo. The orchestra’s conductor, Armand Diangienda, was an unemployed pilot in 1993 who followed his passion to start an orchestra, though he couldn’t play an instrument or read music. He began learning, asking members of his church to join him. With instruments and training scarce, this sole symphony orchestra in Central Africa and only all-black one in the world proceeded to create beautiful music.
Watching the 200 volunteer musicians and singers, one feels inspired by how the music transforms them and takes them to a better place. But when they perform “Oh, Happy Day,” they are simply radiant.
God wants to transform all our lives from the spiritual poverty and wearing strife that crush us. He has an eternal “Happy Day” He longs to bless us with in a much better place, where our radiant joy will be unceasing because Jesus washed our sins away.
Hebrews 11:6-16; Titus 3:1-8
"TO PLAY MUSIC IS
FOR ME TO PRAY A SECOND TIME. WE
PRAY AND AFTER THE PRAYER, WE SING."
