“And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.”

Colossians 2:15
“It’s all relative,” people say. But only in truth do we find freedom.

The Philistines brought blind Samson into the temple in full view of the public to mock him and God. He put each arm around a pillar and pulled the temple down on them. The public now knew the truth of God.

Generations later at Calvary, in full view of all, God brought Satan and his armies to ruin. On the night of His betrayal, Jesus said, “Now is the time for judgment on this world; now the prince of this world will be driven out. But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself” (John 12:31-32). Jesus made a public spectacle of the prince of this world, disarming him and stripping him of his power. Through Jesus’ truth we have the freedom He won for us that day.

During a Rose Bowl parade, a float ran out of gas, sputtered, and quit. It held up the parade until gas was delivered. The float sponsor? The Standard Oil Company. With its vast oil resources, its truck was out of gas! Is your tank full of the power of Jesus’ victorious freedom?
