Through Gates of Splendor
In 1956, Jim Elliot, the husband of Elisabeth Elliot, felt a stirring in his heart which led him to travel into the jungles of Ecuador to establish communication with the fierce Waorani Tribe. Other missionaries had tried and fatally failed, and Jim knew that his own life and the lives of the four who joined him would be endangered by the warriors they were planning to convert. But this didn’t stop him from carrying out his purpose. He sacrificed everything he had on earth in hopes of bringing people to Christ. Their story was recorded several months later by Jim’s wife, Elisabeth. Through Gates of Splendor has since become a classic, one that has inspired hundreds of thousands of people.
