“This will take place on the day when God will judge men’s secrets through Jesus Christ, as my gospel declares.”

Romans 2:16
Our system of justice is not perfect. Sometimes innocent people are convicted. Sometimes guilty people are acquitted. Yet most of the time, we get it reasonably right.
When we are wronged and the perpetrator does get away with it, be assured that their escape is temporary. Just as we can be assured of salvation by believing the Gospel, we can be certain, by that same Gospel, that God will judge all sin. People may have gotten away with sin before a human court, but they will not escape God’s judgment forever.
That all sin is punished is good news to those of us who believe the Gospel because the judgment for our sin has been borne and paid for by Jesus Christ. He is the One who will judge the living and the dead.
If you’re living in fear, trying one way or another to cover over your own wrongs, you’ll never find rest. But if you have trusted Christ, give thanks to Him for having borne the judgment for your sin. Either you will have to die for your sin or you can live by accepting Jesus’ death in your place.
