“Jesus … said ‘I promise you, Father …. because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.’”

Luke 10:21
“It’s all relative,” people say. Yet God’s truth triumphs!

From the beginning of time, God promised to crush Satan (see Genesis 3:15). After Jesus’ birth, Satan tried to kill Him through the agent of Herod. He also tempted Jesus in the wilderness and in Gethsemane; but he always lost. Sin was—so Satan thought—the trump card, but Jesus triumphed by paying the penalty for it.

The world’s last word about the truth of Christ was death; God’s last word was resurrection. The world saw an impostor; God saw His beloved Son. The world rejected Jesus; God exalted Him.

Of Jesus’ death, British pastor William Sangster (1900-1960) wrote, “If He was a man, it was murder; if He was God, it was an offering. If He was man, it was martyrdom; if He was God, it was sacrifice. If He was man, they took His life from Him; if He was God, He laid it down Himself. If He was man, we are called to admiration; if He was God, we are called to adoration; … if He was God, we must fall down and give Him our hearts.”
