“To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit.”

1 Corinthians 12:8
Until four years ago, using a devotional was not part of my daily quiet time. I preferred to study and read the Bible for myself. Then a friend gave me a copy of Anchor since she had been an Anchor writer. The format of a monthly theme really appealed to me. Soon I too was a subscriber and found the daily writings enriched my time with the Lord.

As I was emerging from the weight of the ongoing pandemic, I could hear the voice of the Lord repeatedly through the Anchor writers. Some days it seemed as if they were writing just for me. I was challenged, encouraged, and instructed by messages which were fresh to my hungering heart.

Paul taught believers to recognize their spiritual gifts and use them in humility for the common good. Later Peter picks up this theme: “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms” (1 Peter 4:10). When Jesus calls you to let your light shine, it is so that others will see your good deeds and give praise to God.
