“Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise…. And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”

Hebrews 13:15-16
What is worship? Is it singing hymns and praise songs? Is it gathering in church to pray and listen to a pastor’s sermon? Maybe you think of worship as something that occurs in the privacy of your own home as you study the Bible.

While these are all ways to worship, God also defines worship in another way we may not have considered. In Romans 12:1, Paul explained that offering ourselves as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, is true worship.

God calls us to serve Him in sacrificial ways. The cost may be more than we planned. The road is often bumpy. And the results may fall short of the success we expected. But by offering ourselves through Jesus Christ to serve the Father, we are worshipping Him.

Caregiving can be another act of worship. Many caregivers sacrifice their own plans, convenience, hopes, and dreams to provide care. But when we offer ourselves in service in the name of Jesus (see Colossians 3:17) who sacrificed far more for us, our sacrificial service becomes an offering of worship to Him.
