“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

Ephesians 2:10
Checking off each item on my daily to-do list used to give me great satisfaction. But unfinished lists became the rule instead of the exception when I was a caregiver. Doctor appointments, trips to the pharmacy, administering medications, and working from home meant my daily goals were rarely completed and often carried over to the next day.

After a particularly discouraging day, I cried out to God. “In my quiet time this morning, I asked you to enable me to accomplish all I needed to do. Why didn’t you help me?” Then it hit me. Each morning I told God what I needed to do and asked for His help. Not once did I take the time to listen to what He wanted me to accomplish. I wanted Him to bless my daily work, but I failed to ask what that work should be or how it would glorify Christ.

The apostle Paul reminds us that the good works we do have been prepared in advance for us. God knows exactly what He wants you and me to achieve each day. Ask Him what He would have you do to glorify Him. It will make all the difference!
