"This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.'"
(1JOHN3:16)

1 John 3:11-20
It was a random act of kindness. A single mom with three kids – two of them with special needs – was worried her kids might cause a scene as she walked into a Pizza Hut in North Carolina in the fall of 2013. She apologized ahead of time to a man sitting near her. After her family enjoyed their dinner, the mother went to pay for her food. That’s when the cashier gave her a note from someone named Jake. The encouraging note said it was a privilege to watch her parent her kids and told her to “keep up the good work.” That’s when the cashier gave the mom a gift card and told her the meal had been covered. The mother was shocked and moved to tears when she got the news.

Kindness is a powerful way to convey God’s love towards others. Jesus showed how much He loved us by laying down His very life for us. John encourages us to lay down our lives for others, freely and generously. Consider how you might do this in the daily situations the Lord presents you with. When we do, we proclaim God’s love to the world.
