“Grace and peace to you… from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth.”

Revelation 1:4b, 5
Politics is a dicey topic. I personally avoid writing or speaking about it because I don’t want to alienate those who might disagree with me politically. Politics and the world’s problems are important, but they are temporal. Souls, on the other hand, are eternal. So I would much rather use opportunities to point others to Christ, not to my political views.
While we can all see that our world is in a perilous state, verses like Revelation 1:5 give us great joy. They remind us who is really in charge of world affairs. The rulers of this world may rail against the Lord, but they do so in vain (Psalm 2). All the nations of the world are but a drop in a bucket before Him (Isaiah 40:15). He directs the hearts of kings like channeled water (Proverbs 21:1). Having triumphed at the cross and the empty grave, Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father, waiting for the time when His enemies will become His footstool (Hebrews 10:12-13).
Beyond the headlines and global power plays, Jesus Christ reigns supreme. He alone changes everything.
