“For we know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you, because our gospel came to you not simply with words, but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and with deep conviction.”

1 Thessalonians 1:4-5a
Will you pray the prayer below along with me today?

Oh Lord, all around me are many people—my friends and neighbors or people I do not know—who remain in sin. It permeates my life, too. Daily, waves of evil break down on our homes. We try to save ourselves with strength we do not have. We grasp at pleasure, fame, influence, and whatever else we can get our hands on. But those only make our lives worse and Your judgment for our sins more certain.

This breaks my heart. I mourn for my enemies as well because I know what it is to be an enemy of God. But now that I am Your friend and my sins have been forgiven, I know what it is to feel safe when the waves of this world crash against me.

Let sorrow for sin and hope in Your loving grace fill my heart, Lord. Give me full conviction so that I may tell others of what’s to come and share with them the hope that is already here. May the good news about Jesus from me be more than words. Let it come in power and the Holy Spirit, so that they may hear, believe, and live. Amen
