“Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard.”

Psalm 19:2-3
When our son was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at age two, we were told he might never talk. We wondered how we would communicate to him without spoken words.
Even without words, our heavenly Father says much to us. Take a look at the world around and see His great theme of redemption spoken in creation. The rocks may not be crying out (though I suspect they will in eternity!), but they testify of the Lord’s might and immovableness. Rain showers call out of how He washes us clean; the ever faithful sun bears witness that He is steadfast. Intricacies in flowers, fish, insects, and birds all shout out that our Creator is at work and is remarkable beyond words.
Language did eventually emerge for our son, and more and more people understand him as the years go by. The wordless years have made me appreciate all the more his abilities today. Does the voice of your Maker seem silent right now? His word of love to you is always there. How marvelous it will be one day to hear Jesus call us by name in heaven with Him.
