“The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.”

Romans 13:12
For a number of years while living in Iowa, I was on the team of Reserve Police Officers. Our role was to support and compliment the regular officers of the department. There was no question about understanding our duties and responsibilities. Through our ongoing training, we were reminded that we were sworn “to serve and protect our community.”
As Christians, we belong to Christ through faith, and out of deep gratitude, we want to live for Him, “behaving decently,” as Paul says (v. 13). We are to be alert and prepared, understanding the present hour (v. 11). We must live with courage, putting on the armor of light and dressing for battle (v. 12). Also, we are to live victoriously, clothing ourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ (v. 14). In all these things, we are motivated by love which covers over a multitude of sins.
The world in Paul’s day was just as wayward and willful as we know it to be today. We need Jesus. Pray with a willing heart to make Him Lord of your life and to live out your thanks to Him each day.
