“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe through their message.”

John 17:20
During my battle with cancer, I was continually amazed at unexpected prayers. Day after day I heard about people I didn’t even know who were praying for me. It was extremely encouraging to know churches, Bible studies, and friends of friends of friends were praying for my welfare.
Do you know whom Jesus was praying for right before His arrest? It was you! In Jesus’ longest recorded prayer in the Bible, He prayed for those who will believe through the apostles’ message of the cross. That would include all believers from the day of Pentecost until today and beyond. It’s you and me!
He prayed we would be united with Him in His Gospel message and with all other believers in the mission of the Gospel. He prayed we would be bound together with all believers by the same love the Father has for the Son. Finally, He prayed we would see His glory—the good news of the cross and resurrection!
As you celebrate this Easter, be ever mindful that right before His torturous death, the King of all the universe prayed for you.
