"So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature...Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit."

Galatians 5:16, 25
The day the State Police served a search warrant at my home, my whole life changed. I stood in my driveway those hours during my arrest, overwhelmed by what was ahead. I had messed things up far beyond my ability to ever make it right.
The first thing my pastor said to me was, “You are still God’s child, and He still loves you.” God’s grace. Over the next days and weeks, I received much grace from family and friends. A Christian counselor showed me the key to breaking the power of sin in our lives is not found in the abundance of our efforts, but in walking constantly alongside Him, in the abundance of His grace. When I walk in step with God, I find that His yoke is easy and His burden is light (Matthew 11:30). And when I wander away, He pursues me and welcomes me back to walk with Him once more.
As we explore God’s grace this month from my vantage point of the prison setting and from your vantage point of a world of enslaving sins, may we come to know more of the freedom that comes from walking in His grace.
