Lamentations 3:19-33
Every so often there’s a video that captures your heart. I’m thinking of one that went viral in the fall of 2014. A baby elephant named Omysha stumbled over a small ledge in the Zurich Zoo and then fell on her back trying to climb back up. As she cried out, onlookers were moved by what happened next.


Her mother and another female elephant quickly answered the call from the little elephant. Rushing to her aid, the adult elephants got Omysha on her feet and led her back to safety. Zoo visitors gushed as they saw the sweet display of commitment and care.


All over the Old Testament, we read about God’s steadfast love never ceasing towards His people. Paul Miller says this affectionate commitment by God is “love without an exit strategy.” Though
our Heavenly Father lovingly corrects us when we stray like the baby elephant did, His love is everlasting. He will never forsake His children. Whether you’re in a ditch today or not, your hope in the Lord is not in vain. “The Lord is good to those who wait for him” (v. 25).
