“Thomas said to him, ‘Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?’ Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life.’”

John 14:5-6
Jesus began predicting His death, and understandably, the disciples were distressed. So He reminded them that their journey would lead them into the presence of God. “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” When Jesus died on the cross, “The whole earth became dark, the darkness lasting three hours—a total blackout. The Temple curtain split right down the middle. Jesus called loudly, ‘Father, I place my life in your hands!’ Then he breathed his last” (Luke 23:44.46, Eugene Peterson’s The Message). The curtain was torn in two so that anyone could enter and receive life!

“Since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, … let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith” (Hebrews 10:19, 22).

“This world is not my home/ I’m just passing through./ My treasures are laid up/ Somewhere beyond the blue./ The angels beckon me/ From Heaven’s open door/ And I can’t feel at home/ In this world anymore” (Jim Reeves, 1962).
