“Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.”

Proverbs 19:21
Brad was a third-year student with a high grade point average at a prestigious Christian college. His plans were to have a successful business career. On summer break, he had to choose either earning money for his last college year or going on a short-term mission trip whose training would begin in Hawaii. The allure of being on the big island won out.

Although raised as a pastor’s son and attending a Christian college, faith was not personal for Brad. In a training session, his mind wandered. Rather than hearing the speaker, he heard the voice of the Lord calling him into a relationship with Him. He ran from the room to the beach where he had a life-changing encounter with God. Now, many years after that divine interruption, he continues a daily walk with the Lord serving Him in ministry.

In a variety of situations, Jesus reaches into the hearts of His people through the Holy Spirit. He invites us to live in His kingdom of grace and love. His purposes will prevail, even when our plans did not include Him.
