“You have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority.”

Colossians 2:10
We stand amazed at the supremacy of Jesus Christ. He is the essence of God Himself. In the divine fullness of Christ, every spiritual resource is at our disposal when we live for Jesus. But tensions in today’s culture, relativism in many religions, and the appeal in empty philosophies compete to capture our minds and hearts.

Paul tells us the gospel—the triumphant fullness and sufficiency of Christ—overcomes the emptiness of this world. He is over “every power and authority.” Simple as that.

Pastor George continued preaching though he was retired when he came to Okinawa. He exemplified the “fullness of Christ.” He told me how he’d searched extensively for joy and compassion, finding them in Jesus and the good news of the gospel. No wonder the Sunday morning services would find a truckload of U.S. Marines taking over the front rows to hear him tell the good news!

We felt the effects of the cultural revolution in the 70s, the war in Vietnam, and a broken nation. But Jesus saw us through. And He is more than capable of making a way for us today.
