"From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For you have been my refuge, a strong tower..."
(PSALM 61:2-3)

Psalm 61:1-8
Overwhelmed by ministry circumstances years ago, I had packed up my office and was ready to walk out that door for the last time. It was late at night, and a close friend – a police detective – had come to help. Together we stood outside the building. He said, “Before you go, I want us to pray. Look up into the heavens. God, who created those heavens, is not only concerned about you, but will see you through this tough time.” In that awesome night of heavenly glow, this man prayed for me.

Since then, I have been privileged to offer that same kind of hope to many who have become faint, worn-out, and humbled by the burdens of life. Most amazing to me is the reason that I can offer that hope. It’s because my Savior has extended it to me. Jesus meets us in our exhaustion and weariness. He has prayed for us! He welcomes us to dwell with Him where we find refuge and safety, to trust His faithfulness, and to sing praise to His name day after day. Once overwhelmed by life, we now are overwhelmed
by His love.
