"Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved."
(ROMANS 8:23-24A)

Galatians 4:1-7
When we think of adoption, we may consider the perspective of the waiting adoptive parents. They take the initiative, fulfill the legal process and pay the fees, and then they prepare their home. I recently came across a website for an agency called “Children Awaiting Parents” that finds parents for children who want to be adopted. It offered insight into the awaiting child’s world.

As children of God, we are in some ways like these children. By the agency of His Spirit, when we trust Christ, we are legally adopted into God’s family. He took the initiative, completed the legal process, paid the price and prepared a place for us. But usually there is a waiting time to be picked up and taken to our new home. “Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession” (Ephesians 1:13-14). We are now legally adopted, paid for with Jesus’ blood, eagerly waiting to be with our Father!
