“‘Do you hear what these children are saying?’ they asked him. ‘Yes,’ replied Jesus, ‘have you never read, From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise'?”

Matthew 21:16

It’s fun to watch kids hunt for Easter eggs and squeal with delight over gifts and candy. However, we must not underestimate a child’s ability to comprehend the real meaning of Easter. Every child can grasp the wonder of the events leading up to the cross, and of the resurrection.
The day after the Triumphal Entry, Jesus threw the corrupt money changers out of the temple. We often focus on Jesus overturning tables, quoting Old Testament Scriptures with the statement, “My house will be called a house of prayer, but you are making it a den of robbers.” But Jesus also remained in the temple that day, teaching and healing. Children were present shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” While the religious leaders refused to accept who Christ was, the children were the ones declaring Jesus to be the divine Messiah.
Make sure that you, as well as the children in your life, do not miss the true meaning of Easter. The coming of the Savior and His perfect sacrifice for us far outshine decorated eggs and baskets of candy.
