Hopefully you get the chance to worship and sing and grow with other believers every week, but what about those times in between? What about those times when you’re simply trying to live out your faith in Christ in the mundane, or chaotic, moments of everyday life? Revisiting powerful hymns outside of church is a great way to rejuvenate your soul in the middle of the week, when life seems to be pulling you everywhere except toward God.

And what better hymn to draw you nearer to the Lord this week than “Wonderful, Merciful Savior.” There isn’t a great historical backstory to this song, the writers simply said the lyrics and music just came to them. Yet in this rendition by Selah, you can’t help but worship the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in a way that satisfies the spiritual hunger that tends to hit when we least expect it.

Wonderful, merciful Savior
Precious Redeemer and Friend
Who would’ve thought that a Lamb could
Rescue the souls of men
Oh, You rescue the souls of men

Counselor, Comforter, Keeper
Spirit we long to embrace
You offer hope when our hearts have
Hopelessly lost our way
Oh, we’ve hopelessly lost the way

[Chorus]

You are the One that we praise
You are the One we adore
You give the healing and grace
Our hearts always hunger for
Oh, our hearts always hunger for

Almighty, infinite Father
Faithfully loving Your own
Here in our weakness You find us
Falling before Your throne
Oh, we’re falling before Your throne

This is one of my favorite Christian songs. It touches me in a place very deep in my soul, and when I hear it and I’m alone, I sing along and of course I cry. The music, and the words are so beautiful and so meaningful. Thank you for allowing me to hear it on my phone. God bless you for your contribution to the Christian community. Virginia C
